Welcome Baby - Sheboygan County

The Welcome Baby Program was established in 2016 as part of the Community Partnership for Children, and offers a visit from a Resource Specialist to parents and their newborn in the Sheboygan County hospitals. During the visit, parents are connected to existing resources in Sheboygan County, as well as the Parents As Teachers home visiting program.

Parents are also given a welcome bag to congratulate them on the birth of their new baby. The Resource Specialist can continue to be a contact person for parents if they have questions about community resources in the future.

Welcome Baby is one part of the Community Partnership for Children's vision: All children are safe, healthy, and prepared to grow, learn, and achieve.

About

Having a baby can be both exciting and challenging. The Welcome Baby Program was developed to make this easier for you and your family.

Our team of dedicated Welcome Baby Resource Specialists offer parenting and family support resources that are matched to each family's needs. Resource Specialists visit all families at Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan and St. Nicholas Hospital to offer congratulatory gifts and information.

Our ultimate goal is to ensure all children living in Sheboygan County are safe, healthy, and prepared to grow, learn, and achieve, through supporting and connecting parents to community resources as needed.

Services

A Welcome Baby Resource Specialist may meet with you during your pregnancy if needed. All families receive a visit at the hospital after your baby is born. At the time, the resource specialist will share information, give you some gifts, refer you to any resources needed, and answer questions you may have about community support and activities for your family.

A Welcome Baby folder will be given, containing important educational information about child development, postpartum depression, shaken baby syndrome, safe sleep baby, child care resources, and answers to questions about infant care. Each packet also contains connections to community resources that are designed to support and serve families.

Eligibility

All parents who give birth in Sheboygan County receive a Welcome Baby visit. The program partners with an array of providers and services throughout the community. All services are free and voluntary. All Welcome Baby visits, follow-up calls, and support are completely free.

Funding

Funding for the Welcome Baby Program in Sheboygan comes from the United Way through the Community Partnership for Children. Major partners include Advocate Aurora, St. Nicholas Hospital, Family Connections, The Family Resource Center, and Health and Human Services of Sheboygan County.
